Banja Luka bourse's benchmark index rises in Aug amid lower turnover

September 1 (SeeNews) - Total trading turnover of Bosnia's Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE) dropped to 38.2 million marka ($19.6 million/19.5 million euro) in August, compared with 46.4 million marka generated in July, the bourse said.

Equity turnover from regular trading on the BLSE totalled 1.3 million marka in August, lower than 3.9 million marka in the prior month, the bourse said in a monthly report on Wednesday.

The BLSE's total trading turnover amounted to 21.3 million marka in August 2021.

A total of 334 transactions were concluded on the Banja Luka bourse in August, compared with 248 in the previous month and 354 transactions in August 2021.

The BLSE's total market capitalisation amounted to 4.46 billion marka in August, slightly up from 4.39 billion marka the prior month. The bourse's total market capitalisation came in at 4.03 billion marka in August 2021.

The BLSE’s benchmark index, the BIRS, closed at 763.57 points at the end of August, up 2.34% compared to the end-July value and 34.37% higher compared with its closing value at the end of August 2021.

Telekom Srpske [BANJ:TLKM-R-A] contributed the largest portion of total trading turnover among the companies on the BLSE in July, of 1 million marka. The telco's shares closed at 1.49 marka at the end of August, slightly down from 1.5 marka at the end of July.

The BLSE is based in the Serb Republic, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) is based in the other entity, the Federation.
