Banca Intesa Beograd 2023 net income rises to 184 mln euro

February 14 (SeeNews) - Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo said its Serbian unit, Banca Intesa Beograd (BIB), generated a net income of 184 million euro ($199 million) in 2023, up from a profit of 110 million euro in 2022.

BIB's operating income rose to 449 million euro in 2023 from 330 million euro a year earlier, while operating costs increased to 140 million euro from 125 million euro in 2022, Intesa Sanpaolo data showed.

Customer deposits rose to 6.4 billion euro at the end of last year, up from 5.3 billion euro at end-2022, while customer loans increased to 5 billion euro from 4.6 billion euro in the period under review.

The value of BIB's non-performing loans stood at 46 million euro at end-2023, down from 48 million euro a year earlier, with the non-performing loan coverage ratio improving to 69% from 64% at end-2022.

Out of 20 active banks in Serbia at the end of September, BIB was the largest one in terms of assets, followed by OTP Banka Srbija and Raiffeisen Banka Beograd, data from the country's central bank showed on Wednesday.
