"With the acquisition of the majority shares, the environmental pioneer moves into the top 3 on the Croatian market for the disposal of non-hazardous waste," Saubermacher said in a press release earlier this week. It did not disclose the value of the deal.
Zagreb-based 3KF is a family business founded in 2011 by businessman Ivan Rezo, according to Croatia’s court registry. The company trades in recyclable materials and specializes in the collection, sorting and processing of municipal and commercial waste such as packaging, biogenic waste, building rubble and substitute fuels. It processes 50,000 tonnes of waste per year in the Zagreb metropolitan area and employs around 50 people.
In addition to Saubermacher, the Croatian company Trgo-Sirovina is new co-owner, which now holds 31% of 3KF, as per the press release.
Trgo-Sirovina and Saubermacher have already been partners for many years in the joint venture Saubermacher EKP based in Split. The entire 3KF team will be taken over. The management consists of the previous manager Ognjen Poljak and Mislav Galic, managing director of Saubermacher EKP.
“With our new partnership, we are strengthening our presence in Croatia and consistently pursuing our growth strategy in Southeastern Europe,” said Saubermacher CEO Ralf Mittermayr.
According to the latest data available from Finance Analytics - Dun & Bradstreet, 3KF posted a net profit of 3.4 million euro ($3.7million) on revenue of 10.8 million euro in 2022.
