BUCHAREST (Romania), September 16 (SeeNews) – Austrian transport and logistics services provider Gebruder Weiss (GW) has launched railroad transport services in Romania, the company’s Romanian unit said.
"The launch of railroad services is part of Gebruder Weiss’s strategy to expand in the region," GW regional manager Thomas Moser said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that the costs of transporting cargo by railway will be lower compared to those of road transportation.
GW entered Romania in 2001 by acquiring 53% of local freight carrier Cargolog Romania. The company employs 180 and has several cargo terminals across the country. It expects its turnover to reach 15 million euro ($22 million) in 2009.
