BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), December 3 (SeeNews) – Idled Bosnian steel pipe producer Alpos will be offered for sale at an auction on Tuesday for a price equal to one third of its estimated value of 5.7 million marka ($3.8 million/2.9 million euro), the municipality of Prnjavor, where the plant is located, said on Monday.

If the auction fails, the municipality said in statement it will offer support for the sale procedure to end as soon as possible and for the plant to secure a buyer among local companies that will restart production.

Bankruptcy proceedings against the plant, which halted production in August 2011, were launched in May.

Alpos, formerly Unis, was renamed after it was acquired by the namesake Slovenian company.

Prnjavor is located in the Serb Republic, one of the two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Muslim-Croat Federation.
