Exports grew 1.8% on the year to some 35 billion leks, while imports edged up 0.6% to some 75 billion leks, INSTAT said in a monthly statement on Friday.
Exports of foods, beverages and tobacco, chemical and plastic products increased, while the outbound of textiles and shoes, building materials, and metals inched down.
In April, Italy continued to be Albania's primary trading partner, with Albanian exports to Italy totalling 13.7 billion leks and imports from Italy amounting to 16 billion leks.
In 2023, Albania's trade deficit decreased by 6.7%, reaching 432.3 billion leks, the statistics service has said.
