Albania's power output falls 38% y/y in Q2

August 31 (SeeNews) - Albania's net electricity production decreased to 1,647 GWh in the second quarter of 2022 from 2,660 GWh a year earlier, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.

Albania's power exports dropped to 415 GWh in the April-June period from 924 GWh in the like period of 2021, whereas imports jumped to 664 GWh from 228 GWh, INSTAT said in a statement.

Some 38.3% of the country's electricity production in the second quarter of 2022 was generated by public hydro plants, 60.9% by independent power producers and 0.8% by other producers.

Grid losses decreased to 362.5 GWh in the second quarter of 2022 from 400.4 GWh in the like period a year earlier. Distribution losses fell to 306.8 GWh from 339.7 GWh, while transmission losses decreased to 55.7 GWh from 60.7 GWh.
