Albania's net tourism income rises 41% y/y in Q1

June 11 (SeeNews) - Albania’s net financial gain from tourism increased to 267 million euro ($286 million) in the first quarter of 2024, from 189.5 million euro in the same period of last year, central bank data showed.

Foreign tourists contributed 788.4 million euro to Albania's economy during the January-March period, up 26% compared to the first quarter of 2023, the central bank said in a quarterly report on Monday.

Albanian residents spent 521 million euro abroad in the first three months of 2024, a 20% rise from the same period last year.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Albania reached 1.7 million in the first quarter, a 60% increase from the first quarter of 2023, the tourism ministry said earlier.

In 2023, foreign tourist arrivals to Albania jumped 35% to 10.1 million. Foreign tourists brought in 4.2 billion euro last year, a 47% increase compared to 2022, according to central bank data.
