Albania's Jan-Feb budget surplus falls to 200 mln euro

March 19 (SeeNews) - Albania's consolidated budget was in surplus of 20.7 billion leks ($218 million/200 million euro) in the first two months of 2024, down 14% compared with the same period in 2023, finance ministry data showed on Tuesday.

Consolidated budget revenue rose 7.1% year-on-year to 104 billion leks in the January-February period, whereas expenditures increased by 14% to 83.3 billion leks, the finance ministry said in a statement, quoting preliminary figures.

Tax revenue increased by 21% to 63.3 billion leks, with value-added tax proceeds up 39% to 13.7 billion leks.

Albania's consolidated budget was in deficit of 31.3 billion leks at the end of 2023, finance ministry data showed last month.
