Albania's Jan-Apr budget surplus rises 35% y/y

May 17 (SeeNews) - Albania's consolidated budget was in surplus of 45.84 billion leks ($495 million/457 million euro) in the first four months of 2024, up from 33.9 billion leks in the same period in 2023, finance ministry data showed on Friday.

Consolidated budget revenue rose 11.6% year-on-year to 231.64 billion leks in the January-April period, whereas expenditures increased by 7.4% to 185.8 billion leks, the finance ministry said in a statement, quoting preliminary figures.

Tax revenue increased by 12.2% to 129.5 billion leks, with value-added tax proceeds down 5.2% to 24.5 billion leks.

Albania's consolidated budget was in deficit of 31.3 billion leks at the end of 2023, finance ministry data showed last month.
