July inflation was driven mainly by a 7.4% year-on-year rise in the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 38.02% in the consumer basket, INSTAT said in a monthly HICP report.
On a monthly comparison basis, Albania's HICP edged down 0.7% in July.
Albania's non-HICP rose to 2% on the year in July, accelerating from a 1.9% increase in June, INSTAT said two weeks ago. On a monthly comparison basis, non-harmonised prices fell by 0.1% in July, after decreasing 0.3% a month earlier.
INSTAT started publishing inflation measurement through the HICP in February. The HICP measures consumer price inflation in the euro area. It is compiled according to a methodology that has been harmonised across EU countries to ensure that the data for one country can be compared with the data for another.
