Albanian insurers' Jan-April gross written premiums up 8.3%

TIRANA (Albania), May 30 (SeeNews) – The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers have increased 8.3% year-on-year in the first four months of 2019, reaching 5.3 billion leks ($47.7 million/42.8 million euro), official figures showed.

Gross written premiums from non-life insurance added 6.9% to 4.9 billion leks, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 376.0 million leks, up 16.4%, according to figures published by he Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority late on Wednesday.

Total gross claims paid increased to 1.9 billion leks as at the end of April, from 1.8 billion leks a year earlier.

The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
