March 29 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Albanian insurers edged down by 0.82% year-on-year in the first two months of 2022, reaching 2.8 billion leks ($24.9 million/22.7 million euro), official figures show.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance fell by 1.84% to 2.6 billion leks in January-February, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of 204.7 million leks, up 13.78%, according to figures published by the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) on Monday.
Total gross claims paid fell to 839.6 million leks in the review period from 1.4 billion leks in the January-February period of 2021.
In 2021, the insurers' gross written premiums increased by 16% compared with 2020, reaching 19.3 billion leks.
The statistics comprise data from eight insurance companies operating in Albania.
