November 13 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albania's banking sector rose to 22.7 billion leks ($232 million/218.2 million euro) in September, compared with 12.8 billion leks in the same month of 2022, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.
The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania stood almost flat at 724 billion leks at the end of September, compared with 718 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report last week, quoting data from the country's central bank.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,562 billion leks from 1,502 billion leks at the end of September 2022.
The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,919 billion leks as at the end of September, compared with 1,864 billion leks a year earlier.
The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the third quarter.
