March 12 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albanian banks rose to 3.7 billion leks ($38.9 million/35.6 million euro) in January, up from 2.25 billion leks in the same month a year earlier, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Tuesday.
The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania grew to 736.5 billion leks at the end of January, from 712.6 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting data from the country's central bank.
Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,625 billion leks from 1,549 billion leks at the end of January 2023.
The total assets of the country's banking system expanded to 1,979 billion leks as at the end of January, compared with 1,900 billion leks a year earlier.
The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the fourth quarter.
