Albanian banks' net profit up 50% y/y in Dec

February 9 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albanian banks rose to 32.5 billion leks ($330 million/307 million euro) in December, compared with 21.7 billion leks in the same month a year earlier, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Friday.

The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania grew to 739.5 billion leks at the end of December, from 715 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting data from the country's central bank.

Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,605 billion leks from 1,518 billion leks at the end of December 2022.

The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,965 billion leks as at the end of December, compared with 1,877 billion leks a year earlier.

The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the third quarter.
