The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in the country totalled 766.4 billion leks at the end of April, an increase from 710.3 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report last week, quoting Albanian central bank data.

Deposits in Albanian banks increased 6% to 1,600 billion leks as at the end of April. The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,973 billion leks, from 1,862 billion leks as at the end-April 2023.

The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the first quarter, according to earlier disclosed data.
