Albanian banks' net profit rises 26% y/y in Q1

May 13 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albanian banks rose to 9.84 billion leks ($105.5 million/97.9 million euro) in the first quarter of 2024, from 7.83 billion leks reported for the same period last year, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.

The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania totalled 739.4 billion leks at the end of March, increasing from 690 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report last week, quoting Albanian central bank data.

Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,651 billion leks as at the end of March from 1,575 billion leks a year earlier.

The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,985 billion leks, from 1,870 billion leks as at the end of March 2023.

The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the first quarter.
