Albanian banks net profit down 20% y/y in Jan-Sept

November 10 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Albania's banking sector fell to 12.8 billion leks ($109.1 million/108.1 million euro) in the January-September period, compared with 15.9 billion leks in the same period of 2021, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said on Thursday.

The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in Albania grew to 718.8 billion leks at the end of September, from 639.4 billion leks a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report, quoting data of the country's central bank.

The ratio of problem loans to total loans fell to 5.06% at the end of September from 6.49% a year earlier.

Deposits in Albanian banks increased to 1,503 billion leks from 1,383 billion leks at the end of September 2021.

The total assets of the country's banking system grew to 1,864 billion leks as at end-September, compared with 1,716 billion leks a year earlier.

The figures comprise the financial results of 12 Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of June.
