The 400 kilovolt (kV) line will be funded with proceeds of loans from German development bank KfW, Gjiknuri said, as quoted in a statement on the website of the energy ministry on Saturday.
In December 2013, Kosovo and Albania signed a contract for the construction of the power transmission line.
In the same month, Croatian power transmission equipment maker Dalekovod [ZSE:DLKV-R-A] signed with Kosovo's state-owned power transmission system operator KOSTT a 30.7 million euro ($38.3 million) deal for the construction of a 90 kilometre stretch of the line, from the capital Pristina to the border with Albania, and Bosnian engineering firm Energoinvest was awarded a 29 million euro contract by the Albanian power transmission operator OST for construction of the Albanian part of the line.
