Albania Sells 8.0 Bln Leks (65 Mln Euro) in T-bills, Yields Fall

September 23 (SeeNews) - Albania sold 8.0 billion leks ($95 million/64.6 million euro) in two Treasury bill issues at an auction on Tuesday as yields fell, the country's central bank said.

Bank of Albania, which auctions government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry, offered and sold out 3.0 billion leks of six-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 3.4 billion leks. The T-bills yielded an average 7.31%, slightly down from 7.34% achieved in the previous auction held on September 9.

The bank also offered and sold out 5.0 billion leks in 12-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 6.4 billion leks. The T-bills yielded an average 8.01%, slightly from 8.02% in the previous auction held on September 9.

Since the beginning of the year the Bank of Albania (www.bankofalbania.org) has auctioned 271.5 billion leks of T-bills. It auctioned T-bills worth 386.83 billion leks in par value last year, 460.13 billion leks in 2006 and 465.2 billion leks in 2005.
