TIRANA (Albania), September 14 (SeeNews) – Albania is considering making a fresh attempt to sell the companies operating the hydro power plants (HPPs) Bistrica 1, Bistrica 2, Ulez and Shkopet after receiving no bids in their privatisation tenders, the energy ministry said on Friday.

Albania mulls reruning tenders for three HPP operators

The tender evaluation committee has decided to propose to the ministry to rerun the tenders for the sale of 100% of the shares of the hydropower companies Bistrica 1, Bistrica 2 and Ulez-Shkopet after international investors expressed interest in the process and requested additional time to prepare their bids, the energy ministry said in a statement on its website.

The ministry will consider these requests and will soon take a decision.

The two hydro power plants operated by the Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2 companies have installed capacity of 22.5 megawatts (MW) and 5.0 MW, respectively.

Hydro power company Ulez Shkopet operates two hydro power plants, Ulez and Shkopet, with an installed capacity of 25.2 MW and 24 MW, respectively.
