February 23 (SeeNews) - Albania has signed an agreement with the European Commission to join the EU’s Single Market Programme 2021-2027, which aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), economy minister Blendi Gonxhja said.
Albanian SMEs active in the renovation and construction of social and affordable housing projects are now invited to submit their proposals until April 9, Gonxhja said in a social media post on Thursday. They will receive capacity building support and grants of up to 1 million euro ($1.1 million) with a 90% funding rate.
With a total funding of 4.2 billion euro, the Single Market Programme aims to strengthen the common European market and ensure Europe’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the European Commission, the agreement is taking effect retroactively from January 1, 2021. Albania participates in the programme exclusively in the SMEs competitiveness category.
