Albania calls tender for privatisation of hydro power co Ulez Shkopet

The company’s registered capital totals 4.5 billion leks ($41.7 million/32.2 million euro) divided into 4.5 million shares with a par value of 1,000 Albanian leks, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

Albania will seek one or more strategic investors for the company.

HPP Ulez has 25.2 megawatt (MW) capacity and HPP Shkopet's capacity is 24 MW.

Bids should be filed no later than December 10.

This is the second tender for the sale of Ulez Shkopet. In May the economy ministry said it had invited Austria's EVN and Verbund Hydro Power, and a joint venture led by France's Compagnie Nationale du Rhone to take part in tenders for the privatisaton of Ulez Shkopet and two other hydro power plant operators - Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2 after the tender commission had established that all three candidates meet the prequalification requirements. In September, however, Albania said it is considering re-runing the tenders after receiving no bids.
