Albania approves in principle TAP pact with Greece, Italy

TIRANA (Albania), September 27 (SeeNews) – Albania has approved in principle a cooperation agreement with Greece and Italy in support of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, the government said.

TAP is the most feasible and most profitable project for transfer of Azeri gas, a government statement quoted the Albanian prime minister Sali Berisha as saying on Wednesday.

The intergovernmental agreement for the construction of TAP is expected to be signed on Friday.

TAP will transport natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz II development in Azerbaijan, shipping it via Greece and Albania, across the Adriatic Sea to Southern Italy, and further into Western Europe.
