The contract, valid for a minimum of five years starting from January 2024, includes maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, in addition to spare parts pooling and home base services in Serbia’s capital Belgrade, Lufthansa Technik, the aircraft maintenance subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, said in a LinkedIn post.
"We have ambitious goals for our airline, and if we look toward the end of the next decade, our airline could have more than 50 aircraft. This requires a reliable partner that supports us with the best possible services - also at our home base in Belgrade,” Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek said in the social media post.
Last month, regional media reported that Air Serbia is in talks with Turkish Technics, a unit of Turkish Airlines, to establish a joint venture for the launch of a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit in Serbia.
