Oct 1, 2005 - Oil company Naftna Industrija Srbija (NIS) AD is established as a state-owned company in Novi Sad, northern Serbia, following the restructuring of state-owned petroleum company Javno Preduzece NIS - Naftna Indusrija Srbije.
July 21, 2006 - The Serbian Government launches a tender for the privatisation of NIS AD.
Feb 3, 2009 - Russian petroleum company Gazprom Neft OAO becomes the majority shareholder in NIS AD through the acquisition of 51% in the company for EUR 400 mln in cash and additional EUR 550 mln in investments.
Aug 30, 2010 - The company lists on the Belgrade Stock Exchange.
November 2011 - NIS AD and the Serbian government sign a memorandum of cooperation for using alternative and renewable sources of energy. The agreement states that the company has the right to use geothermal recourses to produce energy, and it is valid until 2015.
Mar 31, 2020 - The company becomes the sole owner of the Bosnian Jadran Naftagas d.o.o.
