Oct 8, 1993 - First Investment Bank AD is established in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. On Oct 1, 1993 the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) grants a license to First Investment Bank AD to provide banking services in Bulgaria.
Sept 14, 1995 - The bank obtains a full banking license from BNB.
Apr 16, 2003 - First Investment Bank AD sets up First Investment Finance B.V., located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
May 2005 - First Investment Bank AD acquires a 80% stake in credit card operator Diners Club Bulgaria AD. Later in 2007, following a capital increase in the subsidiary, the bank increases its stake to 85.52%.
Apr 19, 2006 - First Investment Bank AD establishes Tirana-based First Investment Bank - Albania Sh.a. On June 27, 2007 the Bank of Albania issues a full bank license to First Investment Bank - Albania Sh.a.
June 18, 2007 - First Investment Bank AD lists on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
Dec 27, 2007 - Bulgarian First Financial Brokerage House OOD sells a 6.72% stake in the bank to UK-based tour operator Balkan Holidays Ltd.
Oct 15, 2008 - Balkan Holidays Ltd. sells its 6.72% stake in First Investment Bank AD to Rafaela Consultants Limited and Domenico Ventures Limited, both based on the British Virgin Islands.
October 2010 - First Investment Bank AD acquires a 51.7% stake in the Bulgarian Health Insurance Fund Fi Health AD.
November 2010 - First Investment Bank AD acquires a 100% stake in the British Virgin Islands company Framas Enterprises Limited.
2013 - The bank establishes three local subsidiaries - Creative Investment EOOD, Turnaround Management EOOD and Lega Solutions EOOD.
Aug 15, 2013 - First Investment Bank AD acquires a 100% stake in local MKB Unionbank EAD from Hungarian MKB Zrt and changes its name to Unionbank EAD.
Mar 4, 2014 - First Investment Bank AD takes over its wholly owned subsidiary Unionbank EAD, which ceases to exist as a separate legal entity.
