Oct 18, 1999 - Joint stock company Energiyna Kompaniya Maritza East 3 AD is set up with a subscribed capital of BGL 160 mln. Shareholders in the new company are the state-owned power grid operator Natsionalna Elektricheska Kompania (NEK) EAD with 49% and the USA-based Entergy's Holland-based subsidiary Entergy Power Holdings Maritza B.V., holding the majority stake of 51%.
Mar 5, 2003 - Italian thermal and hydro power company Enel SpA joins as a partner in Maritza East 3 TPP modernisation project by buying 60% of Entergy's shares in Entergy Power Holdings Maritza B.V.
Mar 31, 2003 - Entergy Power Holdings Maritza B.V. increases its stake in Energiyna Kompania Maritza East 3 AD to 73% from 51%, while NEK holds the remaining 27% as an in-kind contribution. Energiyna Kompaniya Maritza East 3 AD increases its capital to BGN 265.9 mln from BGN 160,000.
2006 – Enel SpA acquires further 40% of Entergy's shares in Entergy Power Holdings Maritza B.V., renamed to Maritza East III Power Holding B.V. and becomes the majority shareholder with a 73% stake in the company.
Feb 9, 2007 – Energiyna Kompaniya Maritza East 3 AD changes its name to Enel Maritza East 3 AD.
2011 – Enel Maritza East 3 AD renames to ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 AD.
