1993 - Alpha Romanian Holdings AE, arm of Greece's Alpha Bank AE, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) establish Banca Bucuresti SA. The National Bank of Romania grants a banking licence to Banca Bucuresti.
1998 - A bank's subsidiary Alpha Leasing Romania IFN is set up.
Jan 7, 2000 - Banca Bucuresti SA renames to Alpha Bank Romania SA.
2002 - Alpha Bank AE acquires the shares owned by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), thus increasing its share to 95%.
2005 - Alpha Bank AE increases its share in Alpha Bank Romania SA to 99.43%.
2006 - The bank's subsidiary Alpha Insurance Brokers SRL is established, a company specialized in general purpose and life insurance.
