December 21 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said that it has added a seventh aircraft to its base in Sofia and two new routes to link the Bulgarian capital to Hamburg and Stockholm.
With the new addition, the company's fleet in Bulgaria has reached 10 aircraft, Wizz Air said in a press release on Tuesday.
The CEO of Sofia Airport Jesús Caballero said the seventh aircraft will lead to 500,000 more trips in 2023 and that the network expansion is part of the airport’s strategy to contribute some 1 billion levs ($542 million/511 million euro) to the country’s gross domestic product.
The carrier also said it has increased the frequency of 11 of its flights from Sofia to destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Paris, Geneva and Barcelona.
Wizz Air currently operates 30 routes from Sofia to 16 countries in Europe and the Middle East, including the recently announced flights to Riyadh.
