August 14 (SeeNews) - Serbia and Kosovo leaders will meet for talks on the normalisation of bilateral relations at the White House next month, the U.S. special envoy for the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, Richard Grenell, said on Friday.
The meeting will take place on September 2, Grenell said in his Twitter profile.
A bilateral meeting of Serbia and Kosovo leaders at the White House was announced for June, after Kosovo’s prime minister Avdullah Hoti said his government would not attend the U.S.-mediated talks as Kosovo president Hashim Thaci was indicted for alleged war crimes.
The U.S. and the European Union have divided tasks regarding the continuation of the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, Grenell said back in June. According to Grenell, the U.S. government will facilitate the economic matters of the dialogue, whereas the EU will focus on its political aspects.
On September 7, Belgrade and Pristina will hold the next high-level meeting in Brussels within the dialogue for normalisation of their relations, facilitated by the EU.
