August 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's TBD - Tovarni Prevozi is making a fresh attempt to block a 58 million levs ($36.1 million/29.6 million euro) tender for the overhaul of 30 electric locomotives launched by state-owned railways operator BDZ, information from the country's competition authority reveals.
TBD - Tovarni Prevozi has filed a complaint against the July 24 decision of BDZ to extend the deadline for submitting offers in the tender to August 27, according to a notice published on the website of the Commission for Protection of Competition.
BDZ had to extend the deadline after the tendering process was suspended over the previous complaint filed by TBD - Tovarni Prevozi in June. In that complaint, TBD - Tovarni Prevozi objected to a decision of BDZ to change some of the technical aspects of the tender.
The tender envisages the overhaul of 10 locomotives per year and subsequent maintenance until the locomotives reach 225,000 kilometres of travelled distance since the overhaul.
TBD - Tovarni Prevozi is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPP Bobov Dol, the company operating the thermal power plant Bobov Dol in southwestern Bulgaria, according to data from the commercial register. TBD - Tovarni Prevozi's main activity is railway cargo transportation. The company has a registered capital of 200,000 levs.
