April 4 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade balance deficit expanded to 1.232 billion euro ($1.335 billion) in the first two months of 2024, from 52.5 million euro in the like period of 2023, the country's statistical office said.
Exports in January-February grew 4.2% on the year to 9.442 billion euro, while imports rose 16.8% to 10.674 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the two-month period, absorbing 5.15 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 5.118 billion euro of its imports.
In February alone, Slovenia's exports edged down 0.1% on the year to 4.509 billion euro, while imports grew 28.4% to 5.499 billion euro, resulting in a 990.5 million euro trade deficit for the month.
