June 14 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s energy distributor, KOSTT, expects energy from renewable sources to account for at least 39.6% of the country's total energy production by 2032, documents published by the country's energy regulator, ERO, show.
In the best-case scenario, half of the country's energy output will be generated from renewable energy sources by 2032, according to documents drafted by KOSTT and published on ERO's website earlier this week.
As much as 88.5% of Kosovo's energy production is based on coal, as renewables hold an 11.4% share of the total, according to data of the country's statistics office for March.
As concerns demand, KOSTT expects an increase by an average 1.1% to 7,852 GWh in the next ten years, from 6,891 GWh in the referral year 2021, according to the documents.
