May 18 (SeeNews) - Transportation company DHL Freight, part of Deutsche Post DHL Groups, said on Wednesday that it opened in the Bulgarian capital Sofia a new logistics terminal, which will include a customs warehouse and logistics area of over 3,000 square metres.
The new terminal has eleven automated and two specialised ramps for vans, storage of dangerous goods under the provisions of the international ADR agreement as well as high rack storage for more than 6,000 pallets, DHL Freight said in a press release.
For the new Sofia facility, the company has invested in sustainable technologies, alternative propulsion and sustainable fuels. The site makes use of heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) equipment that helps minimise and fully control energy use and reduce environmental impact.
"With the new DHL Freight terminal, we are adding another important hub in Eastern Europe for road haulage, especially in providing quick and easy access to our customers' logistics solutions in the Sofia region," DHL Freight CEO Uwe Brinks said.
