February 1 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Zagreb airport operator says a new passenger terminal will open for business in March following a three-year construction period.
The airport is currently conducting final trials of the components of the new structure to ensure everything is ready for launch day, according to an announcement posted on the website of the airport operator, Medjunarodna Zracna Luka Zagreb (MZLZ).
The new passenger terminal, valued at over 300 million euro ($323.7 million), has an area of 65,000 sq m. It will be able to process 5 million passengers per year in the first phase of the expansion project.
MZLZ, the company set up to implement the upgrade project under a 30-year concession arrangement with the government, launched works on the new terminal in 2013.
Further extensions envisaged during the concession period will potentially increase capacity to eight million passengers.
MZLZ is made up of six companies, including Aeroports de Paris Management, Bouygues Batiment International, Fond Marguerite, IFC, TAV Airports and Croatia's Viadukt.
