October 11 (SeeNews) - The town of Vinkovci, in eastern Croatia, plans to develop a 48 million euro ($51 million) project for production of hydrogen in order to achieve energy sustainability and reduce costs of public services, a local government official said.
The project will help resolve the town’s waste disposal problem and reduce costs for transportation of household waste, Vinkovci deputy mayor Josip Romic wrote recently on the official Facebook page of the town.

The facility will also create an opportunity for developing a system for public transportation and heating using hydrogen, which will subsequently help cut costs of public services provided by the town.
The project, named Zero Emission Mobility Corridor H2, is expected to be co-financed from European Union funds, Romic added.
