SOFIA (Bulgaria), October 16 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria's Sofia Public Electrical Transport Company said it has signed a contract with Czech manufacturer Skoda Transportation for the delivery or 13 new trams worth a total of 46.3 million levs ($27.9 million/23.7 million euro).
The Czech company was selected to deliver the vehicles based on its better offer in terms of technical aspects, although the price was higher than the price of the other submitted offer, according to minutes from a meeting of the working group tasked with assessing the received bids published on the website of the municipal company.
The other bid, submitted by Poland's Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz, was priced at 44.8 million levs but was ranked lower in terms of technical criteria.
Skoda Transportation will deliver the trams within 15 months. The trams will have a 61-month guarantee, according to the offer.
Under the contract, Skoda Transportation will also train Bulgarian tram drivers to operate the machines and will also deliver materials needed for the short-term maintenance of the trams.
