March 26 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's tender for awarding a concession contract for the operation of Plovdiv Airport attracted no offers, the transport ministry told SeeNews on Friday.
Potential bidders were likely influenced by the devastating impact of the pandemic on the aviation industry, the transport ministry said in an e-mailed response to a SeeNews enquiry.
The tender was launched in February 2020, with the bidding deadline extended five times.
This is the second tender for a concession contract to run Plovdiv Airport that has ended unsuccessfully. The previous tender was cancelled in October 2018 after the first-ranked consortium comprising China's HNA Group and Dutch-registered Plovdiv Airport Invest withdrew its offer, while the second-ranked offer was deemed not good enough by the ministry.
