September 25 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost air carrier Wizz Air said on Monday it will no longer operate three destinations from Sofia to the UK cities of Birmingham, Bristol and Doncaster/Sheffield, starting from November 6.
"All Wizz Air flights from Sofia to Birmingham, Bristol and Doncaster/Sheffield will be discontinued from November 6, as the flights did not meet our expectations and as a result our Sofia network had to be optimized. Additional capacity will be allocated to other routes in the coming months," the company told SeeNews in an emailed statement.
Currently, Wizz Air operates 34 routes from Sofia Airport.
After November 6, the company will operate just one route from Sofia to the UK - to London Luton airport.
Wizz Air also operates eight routes from Varna Airport and four from Burgas Airport, both located on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.
During the first eight months of 2017, Wizz Air carried 1.6 million passengers to and from Bulgaria, up 40% year-on-year.
