July 16 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Tuesday it has deployed a second Airbus A320 aircraft at its base in Varna, Bulgaria, representing an investment of $100 million (89.1 million euro), and announced the launch of six new routes from the coastal city.
Between Tuesday and Thursday, Wizz Air will launch its first flights from Varna Airport to Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, Paris, Liverpool and Copenhagen, the company said in a statement.
The new destinations bring the total number of routes that Wizz Air operates from Bulgaria to 48.
The new Airbus A320 aircraft is Wizz Air's ninth in Bulgaria. The low-cost carrier currently has seven aircraft based in Sofia and two in Varna.
Wizz Air's passenger traffic to and from Bulgaria grew by an annual 16% to over 3 million in 2018. Passengers on Wizz Air flights to and from Varna Airport increased 43% to over 400,000.
