February 11 (SeeNews) - Turkish defence systems manufacturer Aselsan Elektronik [IST:ASELS] said that it was awarded a 17 million euro ($20.6 million) contract by local company Eze Insaat, for the delivery of a driverless signalling system for the Gebze-Darica metro line which is under construction.
Under the terms of the deal which was signed on February 8 deliveries will be made in 2023, Aselsan said in a bourse filing earlier this week.
The Gebze-Darica metro line, in the Kocaeli province, will be 15.6 km long and will include 12 stations as well as a depot area. The metro line, which is expected to open by the end of 2023, is constructed by a joint venture of local companies Meting, Metgun, Eze and Gokce, according to information published on the website of the project designer, Ankara-headquartered Prota Engineering.
Aselsan, a subsidiary of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, is mainly active in the development and manufacturing of software, equipment, systems and platforms for the army, navy, air force and aerospace industries.
