April 9 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's 984 million levs ($567.4 million/503.1 million euro) tender for supply of two multi-functional modular patrol ships has attracted interest from Germany's Luerssen, Italy's Fincantieri and local company MTG Dolphin, the commander of the Bulgarian Navy said on Tuesday.
Offers will be officially opened on April 16, rear admiral Mitko Petev told Bulgarian National Television, as seen in a video file published by the public TV broadcaster.
In 2017, Bulgaria launched a tender for construction of two multi-functional modular patrol ships. In November, the defence ministry said that local shipyard MTG Dolphin was selected to do the job. In December, however, MTG Dolphin withdrew from negotiations with the government due to a cut in the maximum financing allocated to the project.
The project was updated last year, and the maximum purchase cost was increased to 984 million levs.
