LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), June 16 (SeeNews) – Slovenia has improved its ranking in this year's edition of the World Competitiveness Rankings compiled by Swiss-based business school IMD, extending its lead over three other EU member states in Southeast Europe.
Slovenia has climbed two positions to rank 35th among 63 states included in the annual IMD World Competitiveness Rankings 2020, the global survey showed.
Bulgaria and Croatia stagnated at 48th and 60th position, respectively, while Romania dropped by two spots to 51st place.
Denmark ranked as the most competitive economy among 27 EU member states, after climbing 6 spots to 2nd position. It came behind Singapore which was the most competitive economy in the world for a second straight year, while Venezuela remained last in 63rd place.
The IMD World Competitiveness Center, a research group at IMD business school, has published the rankings every year since 1989. They are based on 337 competitiveness criteria, and ranks countries according to how they manage their competencies to achieve long-term value creation.
