February 22 (SeeNews) - Courier company Sameday Bulgaria, part of Romanian online retail group eMAG, plans to invest over 17.1 million levs ($9.5 million/8.7 million euro) in its operations this year, including 13 million levs in expanding its network of easybox automated parcel lockers, it said on Thursday.
Last year, the company invested more than 6.4 million levs and booked annual growth of 900% in deliveries to 2.6 million parcels, Sameday Bulgaria said in a press release.
The growth in shipment volumes last year was driven by modern infrastructure, new warehouses, advanced control and tracking systems and a growing network of partners, Sameday said. The courier has partnered with nearly 1,500 online stores in the country.
Easybox lockers, which accounted for 38% of deliveries in 2023, reached 437 locations in Bulgaria out of 5,000 sites in total across Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.
"The interest in contactless delivery is a testament to the changing needs of end customers who are looking for more and more flexibility when shopping online. In the coming months, we will continue to upgrade the traditional delivery as we knew it until recently, remaining confident in the development of the potential of the local market," Sameday Bulgaria CEO Radoslav Krumov said.
Sameday, which also operates in Romania and Hungary, entered the Bulgarian market in 2022.
