May 10 (SeeNews) - Romania’s trade deficit shrank by 1.5% on the year to 6.699 billion euro ($7.19 billion) in the first three months of 2024, the National Statistics Board (INS) said on Friday.
Exports decreased by an annual 3.7% to 22.946 billion euro in the three months through March, while imports decreased by 3.2% to 29.645 billion euro, INS said in a statement.
In March alone, exports fell by 9.8% on the year to 7.904 billion euro, while imports declined by 6.7% to 10.452 billion euro.
The European Union absorbed 73.4% of Romania’s exports in the first three months of 2024 and accounted for 74% of the country’s imports.
Machinery and transport equipment continued to top the list of the most traded product groups in the review period, representing 47.7% of Romania’s exports and 36.2% of imports. Manufactured goods primarily categorised by raw materials followed as a distant second, representing 15.8% of exports and 17% of imports.
