December 22 (SeeNews) - Moldovan airline HiSky said on Friday that it will start round-trip flights to New York’s JFK airport from the Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest starting June 7, 2024.
HiSky will operate the service four times per week – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it said in a press release.
“This is a significant milestone for HiSky and even more so for Romania and all passengers wishing to travel across the ocean without stopovers or time wasted at other airports,” Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky, said.
The transatlantic journey lasts just over ten hours, with tickets available in two service classes.
The Bucharest Otopeni - New York JFK service will be operated with an Airbus A330-200, HiSky’s first wide-body aircraft which enables non-stop service over this distance and is the only one of its kinds registered in Romania.
On December 12, HiSky received clearance to operate flights to and from the United States.
HiSky operates international flights from Moldova's capital Chisinau and the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara, and Baia Mare. Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest serves as HiSky’s main operational base, facilitating the airline’s servicing of eight regular international routes, as well as two domestic flights.
