June 26 (SeeNews) - The construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in Rahovec, in western Kosovo, is estimated to cost around 75 million euro ($82 million), to be provided by private investors, the energy ministry said.
In May, Kosovo launched an auction for a 30-year concession contract for the construction and operation of the plant in a publicly-owned area in Rahovec, the first solar energy auction in its history. The winning bidder will also get a 15-year power purchase agreement. The deadline for submitting bids expires on August 18.
Construction works are seen to begin by next year, an energy strategy draft for the period 2022-2025, published on Kosovo’s public consultation website last week, shows.
Earlier in June, Kosovo’s energy distributor, KOSTT, said it expects energy from renewable sources to account for at least 39.6% of the country's total energy production by 2032.
