SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 27 (SeeNews) – Greek building company Terna has won a contract with French retailer Carrefour for the construction of a 122.9 million euro ($173.7 million) shopping centre in Sofia, Terna said.
Terna has been assigned with the contract for the construction of Hermes Park Sofia belonging to Carrefour Bulgaria and European Trade Center, the Greek company said in a statement.
The project, with a contractual value of 122.9 million euro, is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2009, Terna said.
It will consist of a multifunctional shopping and entertainment centre with an office complex, three levels of underground car parking space and an open air parking lot for visitors, with a total built-up area of approximately 241,000 square metres.
Big retail projects have been sprouting in Bulgaria in the past years, as the purchasing power of the population has been increasing steadily.
Bulgaria joined the European Union in January.
